  1. Research and connect with individuals that you would like to work with.

With the advent and proliferation of social media it is easier to communicate instantaneously with people around the world than ever before. Search for people on Google and social media platforms to find people in your field that you would like to surround yourself with. On Facebook and LinkedIn take advantage of groups on those platforms that allows you to communicate with thousands of people that share your interest without formally connecting with or friending them on those platforms.

2. Add value to people in the field or space that you would like to network in.

One way to expedite the networking process is to provide knowledge, skill, or monetary help to a person, or persons that you’d like to add to your network. If someone is asking for help on social media, give them solutions. Leverage the solution opportunity to begin the process of fostering a continued working relationship. People at the highest and lowest level of any field are equally appreciative of a helping hand.

3. Participate in Twitter Spaces and on the Clubhouse App

The pandemic has intermittently interrupted in-person meeting opportunities, but Twitter Spaces and the Clubhouse App created a solution for that problem. People are hosting meetings around the clock on the Twitter and Clubhouse platform with like minded individuals. Take equal advantage of the opportunity to network with presenters and attendees on both platforms. Attend meetings in large rooms with thousands of people and meetings in smaller rooms with a small number of people.

4. LinkedIn was created for networking

LinkedIn was literally created with the idea of professionally networking. That full advantage of the expected domain dependent etiquette of networking offered by LinkedIn. The LinkedIn has a meeting and calendar feature embedded in the direct message inbox on the platform. You can schedule video zoom calls, or phone calls, and schedule reminder notifications in your message inbox.

5. Create content on the internet

Creating video and written content on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and platforms like Medium.com are an excellent networking tool. Even if you’re not an absolute expert in area, share the insights that you have gained as you continue to learn more. Your content creates conversation and the opportunity to network as a result of that conversation. Content creation is a networking gift that will make room for you with others in 2022.
