Cheflodeezy is Jamaica’s and Miami’s Musical Culinary Gift
Cheflodeezy is a rare combination of a licensed culinary chef and a rapper.
Music is food for the soul. Immaculate dishes and immaculate songs are a way of life for Cheflodeezy. Most rappers aren’t licensed culinary chefs, but Cheflodeezy is. Kingston, Jamaica, and Miami, Florida, each has a rich history in food and music. Those two places shaped the man known to the world as Cheflodeezy.
Cheflodeezy was relaxed and focused as he sat in his car on a sunny Miami day recounting his early life in Kingston, Jamaica, and the transition to Miami, Florida, at the age of nine. His oral history is intertwined and influenced by places that gave the world legends such as Bob Marley, Luther ‘Uncle Luke’ Campbell, Usain Bolt, Ricky Rozay, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Vybz Kartel.
Cheflodeezy recounted the reasons for his parents moving to the United States. He stated, “My parents moved to Miami for economic reasons because presently there are more opportunities in the United States.” Cheflodeezy grew up playing sports in South Florida. Cheflodeezy was a standout track star at Miami Central Senior High School. During this time in high school, one of his high school track teammates introduced him to creating music by showing him the FL Studio music production software.
Cheflodeezy eventually received a track scholarship to Lees-McRae College. While attending the small school located in the Appalachian Mountains in rural North Carolina, Cheflodeezy made some youthful mistakes and found himself in trouble with law enforcement. After brushes with the judicial system in North Carolina, Cheflodeezy found himself back in South Florida, ready to begin again.
He tapped into his passion for cooking, which he has had since he was a child and attended culinary school. His peers in the neighborhood nicknamed him Lo Deezy, and upon graduating from culinary school, he added the Chef to Lo Deezy, and his rap moniker of Cheflodeezy was born.
Cheflodeezy was featured in the prestigious SoHo House Magazine for his award-winning food dishes. In a recent interview with Voyage Miami Magazine, Cheflodeezy shared some of the prestigious events, restaurants, and individuals for whom he has prepared food dishes for:
SoHo House Cecconi’s, Mandolin Greek Restaurant, Tom Colicchio’s Beachcraft, and The One Hotel Habitat Miami Beach. Miami Art Basel events, Miami Gardens Food & Wine Festival, Hungry Black Man Show, Brunch After Dark, and also serves as a private culinary contractor to NBA stars Dwayne Wade and Ray Allen, recording artist Austin Mahone, Miami Dade County Public Schools, and City Centre Brickell law offices.
Cheflodeezy brings that same drive, passion, and work ethic to his music career. Cheflodeezy drops a new music video two to three times a month. Cheflodeezy has found the perfect ingredients to crank out visual after visual with his music video director, Steven Bernard. His sound range stretches from reggaetón to street music to adult contemporary hip hop.
Cheflodeezy’s musical prowess and work ethic have not gone unnoticed. Cheflodeezy has been featured in The Source Magazine, Raptology, and The Hype Magazine. Cheflodeezy’s private chef clients often surprise him when he serves them one of his world-class dishes, as his clients voluntarily play his music in the background. Cheflodeezy stated, “Sometimes I go service the clients, and I hear one of my songs playing out of nowhere. I didn’t know they knew I was a rapper; I thought they just knew me as a chef.”
Cheflodeezy recently had his record “Don’t Play With Me” played on 103.5 The BEAT in Miami.
Cheflodeezy has worked with Beenie Man, Jeia, OpenSoul, DJ Chill Will, DJ Fatboy Rhymer, and more.
The pandemic didn’t slow Cheflodeezy down in the kitchen or the music studio. Cheflodeezy provided more food dishes than ever for his private chef clients and released four mixtapes on the music front in the same period of time. Cheflodeezy is motivated to give his gifts to the world. In return, he hopes to provide an enduring legacy of wealth to his daughter as an inheritance.
