P-Rock's character and drive was crafted by his experiences growing up in Memphis, Tennessee. Music is said to be poetry for the soul. Music can also be an avenue of economic elevation for those that embrace it. His neighborhood of Whitehaven in Memphis is proof that music can take you far. Legends of the hip-hop and rock-and-roll genres of music have called Whitehaven home during various stages of their lives. The likes of DJ Paul (Three 6 Mafia), Tommy Wright III, Gangsta Bo, Drumma Boy, Gangsta Pat, Dontari Poe, and Elvis Presley.

If such a thing as geographical epigenetic heritage exists, P-Rock is the next member of the neighborhood family tree destined to blaze a bright trail of musical stardom.

In the words of the late American poet, Langston Hughes, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.”

The words of Langston Hughes ring true in all of our lives. P-Rock is not an exception to the rule that life will come with it's many ups and downs.

As P-Rock spoke about what inspired his passion to pursue music he stated, “The things I saw around me in Memphis motivated me. There's a lot of great things about Memphis, but there is also a lot of gangbanging, drug dealing, and violence. I wanted to do music to escape those negative aspects of Memphis I saw growing up.”

Before P-Rock plunged himself full fledge into his music career, he was a standout high school football player in Memphis. His stellar play on the football field earned him college football scholarship offers from Bethel College, Tennessee State University, and Alcorn State University.

Low ACT test scores and an untimely injury derailed those opportunities.

This reality forced him to focus on the musical gifts within him that had always been a part of the backdrop of his life. He had fell in love with music as a preadolescent.

P-Rock described the grief he felt in the aftermath of a burglary at his childhood home. He stated, “Everything got stolen, but I remember running to my parents crying because the boombox that I listened to music on was taking during the break-in of our home. That's the only thing that I wanted back.”

As P-Rock grew in age he begin to perfect his lyric writing ability by ghost writing love poems to females at his high school on behalf of his male friends.

Fast forward years later and P-Rock is on tour with Collective Music Group (CMG) recording artist Big Boogie.

P-Rock and Big Boogie were originally introduced to each other by respective family members, as they both are from Memphis. P-Rock recalled their first face-to-face meeting and said, “I remember the first time Big Boogie and I met. We barely said anything in that moment to each other, but we have been like brothers ever since.”

P-Rock and Big Boogie have spent the past four months touring throughout the United States. P-Rock lists the state of South Carolina, city of St. Louis, city of Houston, and state of Mississippi as his favorite places to perform thus far.

P-Rock described the live performance experience in those locales by saying, “The energy and love they show [fans] is electric. As soon as you walk on stage the lights are out, everyone has their cell phone out, and the energy they give you is surreal. The scene is lit.”

To think his high school girlfriend had once laughed at P-Rock when he told her that he was going to be a rap star in the aftermath of the abrupt end to his football career.

Now he's rocking sold out venues and his label Rockemhard Entertainment is entertaining label deal offers from multiple major record labels.

P-Rock initially became acquainted with Rockemhard Entertainment owner Hitemup, in the same fashion as Big Boogie. Respective family members of P-Rock and Hitemup introduced them to one another, and they have been like family ever since.

Developing an interpersonal relationship with the people that he works with in the music business is important to P-Rock. He elaborated stating, “I prefer not to do music or collaborate with anyone that I can't touch.”

P-Rock writes the treatment for his music videos and works closely with his two music producers: Mario and Mike Edwards.

P-Rock expressed his gratitude for any DJ in the world that plays his music. He is especially appreciative of the DJs that have supported him from the ground level:

  • DJ Bori
  • DJ J. Brown
  • DJ Trill
  • DJ 007
  • DJ Rock Steady
  • DJ Styles

P-Rock reflected, “Those are the DJs that played my record in the clubs and on the radio as I was trying to establish myself. Also, shout out to the Coalition DJs of Atlanta. I want to go back to do New Music Monday with them again so they can see my growth as an artist, performer, and person.”

P-Rock rocking people on the football field gave birth to his rap name. These days P-Rock is rocking the microphone as he sees how far music can take him, his labelmates at Rockemhard Entertainment, and his artist on 2 Da Money (2DM) can go.
